D’Arcy Carden will be appearing on the upcoming Netflix series Nobody Wants This, which stars her former “The Good Place” co-star Kristen Bell.
Who’s in the cast?
Kristen Bell and Adam Brody play star-crossed lovers Joanne and Noah, and each brings their unique brand of endearing humor to the roles. In the trailer, Bell is snarky but vulnerable, while Brody’s boyishness makes the whole concept of a Hot Rabbi sexy. (Also, fun fact: Erin Foster appeared on one season of The OC, the show that made Brody a household name.)Justine Lupe (Succession’s wonderfully apathetic Willa) and Timothy Simons (Veep’s tall dork Jonah Ryan) add levity as Joanne’s sister Morgan and Noah’s brother Sasha, respectively.
Rounding out the cast are D’Arcy Carden, Bell’s former Good Place costar, and Sherry Cola, the breakout star of Joy Ride.

Tony Hale is bringing a unique film to the 2024 Toronto International Film Festival that has been years in the making.
PEOPLE has an exclusive first look at Sketch, a heartwarming, thrilling movie he collaborated on with longtime friend Seth Worley.
In the film, which also features D’Arcy Carden (The Good Place), Hale, 53, plays a father grieving the recent death of his wife, while Bianca Belle and Kue Lawrence portray his children, Amber and Jack, who each struggle with their grief in different ways.
Amber engages with the loss by doodling creatures in her notebook that verge on the disturbing, while Jack discovers a pond in the woods that seemingly can bring inanimate objects to life.
After Amber’s notebook accidentally falls in, those monsters come to life, endangering the entire family and their community.
“When shows are wrapped, you’re always excited ’cause everybody got through it, but with something this personal, I have never had adrenaline like that in my life,” Hale tells PEOPLE of finishing the movie after seven years in development.
Worley tells PEOPLE the idea for the movie stems from his childhood.
He remembers his younger sister getting into trouble for drawing “a comically violent picture of her teacher being pelted with arrows,” and the counselor who told her the decision to draw out her feelings “was significantly healthier than actually doing it.”
“It’s probably the most badass thing anyone’s ever said to a kid, in my opinion,” Worley says. “This thing that you did that made everyone scared of you and made everyone treat you like there was something wrong with you was actually evidence that you were a good person.”
Worley was further encouraged to write the movie when his own daughter went through a similar situation. He even wrote the lead role with the Arrested Development star in mind.
“He is a dream, man,” the filmmaker says of working with Hale. “Just a legitimately generous, kind guy, and proactively kind in a way that is unparalleled with anyone I’ve ever met.”
Hale, who shares 18-year-old daughter Loy Ann with wife Martel Thompson, tells PEOPLE his family saw an earlier version of the film that screened in Nashville in 2023, and he enjoys watching audiences react to the movie as it screens.
“I love seeing people’s reactions to the film, and my parents and my family obviously loved it,” he says. “I get really a kick out of that.”
“I’ve been doing this for over 25 years, and when you’re this passionate about something, it’s just — I cannot wait,” Hale says. “I cannot wait for people to see it. I’m so stoked about it.”
Sketch makes its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival on Sept. 7.

Arsema Thomas and Darrell Britt-Gibson strike up an unforgettable romance in She Taught Love.
The new film, written by Britt-Gibson and directed by Nate Edwards, debuts Sept. 27, and PEOPLE has an exclusive first look, including the emotional trailer.
Britt-Gibson stars as Frank Cooper, an actor known for a prestigious TV series called The Street who is now “coasting through life distracting himself with women, booze and blow, while auditioning to play stereotypical gang members and drug dealers,” per a synopsis.
But, as the synopsis teases, the “minute he meets Mali Waters (Thomas), a sports agent living for the present, his whole world changes.”
“Despite their own worst instincts, Mali and Frank are inescapably drawn to one another,” the synopsis continues. “As Mali is forced to face her own mortality, the clock begins to tick. The two must learn to rely on each other, choosing to love and live for the moment, even if that’s all they get.”
The rest of the cast includes American Horror Story star Taissa Farmiga, Insecure star Alexander Hodge, The Good Place star D’Arcy Carden and The Bear star Edwin Lee Gibson.
She Taught Love is in select theaters and on Hulu September 27.
Magnolia Pictures has acquired North American rights to The Gutter, a bowling comedy starring Shameik Moore (Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse), D’Arcy Carden (The Good Place) and Susan Sarandon (The Fabulous Four), from the project’s producer and financier, Village Roadshow Pictures.
The film, directed by Yassir Lester (The Carmichael Show) & Isaiah Lester (Black-ish), will be released in theaters and on demand on November 1, after premiering at SXSW.
The Gutter watches as the frequently fired Walt (Moore) lands a position tending bar and de-roaching shoes at his local bowling alley AlleyCatz, feeling like he’s finally found a home. When money issues threaten AlleyCatz, Walt is pressured by former pro-bowler and current champion drinker Skunk (Carden) to accept his role as the greatest bowler ever put on this earth. While Walt’s love of big checks and in-your-face style of play dominates the pro tour, his detractors, including ratings-obsessed news anchor Angelo Powers (Paul Reiser) and fresh-out-of-retirement bowling-legend Linda “The Crusher” Curson (Sarandon), furiously attempt to snuff out Walt’s flame before it burns too bright.
Written by Yassir Lester and produced by Liz Destro, the film also stars Jay Ellis (Top Gun: Maverick), Kim Fields (The Upshaws), Jackée Harry (Sister, Sister), Paul Scheer (Twisters), Adam Pally (Mr. Throwback) and more. Exec producers are Jared Hess, Helen Estabrook, and Village Roadshow’s Tristen Tuckfield, Jillian Apfelbaum, and Nic Gordon.
Said Magnolia Pictures’ co-CEOs, Eamonn Bowles and Dori Begley, “Joining a lineage of absurd, riotous bowling comedies, THE GUTTER knocks them down in grand style. We’re excited to be rolling this out in November.”
Added the filmmakers, “We are grateful and humbled to work with a prestigious film distributor like Magnolia Pictures. We are excited to get this insane movie out into the world. See you in November!”
SVP of Acquisitions John Von Thaden negotiated the deal on behalf of Magnolia Pictures, with Village Roadshow, CAA, and UTA on behalf of the filmmakers.
